Meet Robyn, our first BMG Good Sort

Our first BMG Good Sort, Robyn Jackman, has been a very hard lady to pin down.
We have had a $200 Smugglers Restaurant Dinner voucher for her to collect here for quite a few weeks, but it has been quite hard to find a compatible time given her seemingly excessively busy schedule.
This busy lady is into everything! And that is a great thing for the Nelson Tasman community as it is Good Sorts like Robyn that make up the behind the scenes glue that holds it all together for the rest of us.
Robyn does not know who nominated her, it could have come from any one of the several organisations she volunteers for. We are very happy that she has been nominated as it gives us a chance to publically say thanks for all of the years of tireless hard work for the good of the overall community. Robyn, you truly are a Good Sort!
Robyn and her family arived in Nelson in 2002 and jumped straight into community involvement. For many years she has been a key part of the local hockey scene, as a coach, manager, mentor and player. Her 3 daughters have grown up playing through the grades of the local hockey fraternity, and this year she stuck up her hand again when the Nelson Girls Under 18 team needed a coach. It is going to be a big year for the team as they get ready for the National U18 Girl's Tournament being held in Nelson July 7-12th.
Both Robyn and her husband also found a place volunteering for the local Appleby Volunteer Rural Fireforce. This is a vital community role and a huge commitment that shows the true community spirit that exists in the Jackman household. With a team of only 12-13 volunteers to call on the Appleby Volunteer Rural Fireforce is a small and tightknit team that must rely on each other in potentially dangerous situations, often quite a time distance away from the backup of the larger regional Fire Service teams. There is a lot of training, and many weekends dedicated to making sure that when the time comes this team is good to go.
We hope that Robyn and her family finds the time to get together and celebrate the fact that we, as a community, are also celebrating them. The $200 dinner voucher from Smugglers is one way we can do a little good ourselves and provide a small thankyou for all of the good that this family has injected into our community.
