Ever since our humble beginnings in downtown Nelson in 1945 the Bowater Motor Group has been very focused on community involvement. We believe that you are only ever as successful as the support that you can give back. It is with this philosophy that we continue to be as involved as we can be in the wider Nelson / Tasman community.
This section of the website houses stories, links and content from a collective of organisations and events that we are involved with or support through sponsorship or partnerships.
The menu to the right has got comprehensive articles from those events, organisations and charities that we regularly involved with, click on the menu items to read more, or scroll down this page to keep up with events as they unfold.
If you think you have an event, organisation or group that would benefit from our community interest feel free to contact us.
The Brook Sanctuary has now set up a new campaign office in Morrison Square. We wish them the best of luck and will certainly continue to be vocal and passionate supporters of a wonderful community driven initiative.
This Nelson Mail article fills us in on all of the details.

The Brook Waimarama Sanctuary hopes for a boost in fundraising and volunteer sign-ups after moving office to a more visible location in the city.
After leaving its old premises at Bowaters due to the showroom being refurbished there the Brook Sanctuary has set up a new base in Morrison Square.
The spacious new office, lent to the group for free, will be used as a place for events and recruiting volunteers, and its central location will help increase their visibility.
The trust hopes to have a pest-free wildlife area that will be home to various native animals, birds and plants by 2015. Its main fundraising goal is to build a 14-kilometre round pest-proof fence to create a sanctuary for native plants and animals.
The makeup of the mix of drivers in the Toyota racing Series has definitely shifted over the years as the competition has seemingly become an incubator for young hotshots to hone their skills and improve their career paths.
This both helps and hinders the local drivers depending on what angle you choose to take. The team behind Victory Motor Racing have the best of both world's with young kiwi driver Michael Scott on board to represent!

Bowater Honda CEO Chris Bowater accepts a certificate for a sponsored fencepost from Brook Waimarama Sanctuary's General Manager Hudson Dodd
We bid the team from the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary's Campaign Office a fond farewell last week from the space we donated to them in the top showroom of Bowater Honda. The renovation programme we have in place for the moving of the Honda and Hyundai dealerships has now shifted up a gear now that Bowater Honda has moved into it's new showroom in Achilles Ave. This has freed up the showroom on the corner of Rutherford and Hardy street to begin the transformation into the new Bowater Hyundai showroom.
It was a bittersweet moment as the Brook Sanctuary's General Manager Hudson Dodd presented Bowater Honda CEO Chris Bowater with a certificate for a sponsored fencepost as recognition of the support the Bowater Motor Group has given the organisation over the past year.
The Bowater Motor Group has enjoyed providing a space for the central campaign office of the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary, and this was done with no expectation of any kind. We were genuinely pleased to be able to help this great, local, community focused initiative as they entered the public fundraising phase. By enabling them to have a presence within our highly visible showroom right on one of central Nelson's busiest traffic intersections was a gift we could easily provide this vital environmental project - a project we were very happy to get behind as a community focused organisation.
It is exciting to one day be able to see our name on a fencepost near the main entrance, and something that the up and coming generations of the Bowater family, and all those that work alongside them, will most certainly treasure. It is indeed a wonderful surprise and a great legacy for the company to be honoured with, and we are most grateful for the gift.
Victory Motor Racing's Damon Leitch in full flight in the 2014 season.
The very first International Motorsport Series contested in 2014 is the always exciting Toyota Racing Series, held over 5 consecutive weekends.
For the first time the Toyota Racing Series (TRS) program partly intersects with the brand new Toyota 86 series sponsored by Toyota Finance. The 86 series is spread over 6 months and logistics are relatively straightforward, but for the TRS program there is a massive exercise in mounting 5 events in 5 weekends.
Immediately following the final race on Sunday evening, rain, hail or shine (often all three at Teretonga) pack out starts, and once complete, the TRS circus and associated convoy, consisting of several shipping containers, race car transporter, hospitality truck, merchandise and show car trailers hits the road destined for setup at the next venue by Tuesday evening to be fully operational for crew and team breakfasts early on Wednesday morning. Part of this convoy is the Victory Motor Racing (VMR) team with their Bowater Toyota Box Body Gear Transporter, and the Toyota Hiace crew transport.
Guy Griffiths from VMR was stoked to have the additional support from Bowater Toyota and has kept us in the loop with a great array of images thus far, which we will share with you either here or on our Facebook Page, or both!
