The High Low Fashion Weekend was organised by photographer Sarah Brennan, designer Brooke Strang and stylist Kelly Vercoe who wanted to bring a fashion show to Nelson.

The trio pulled together the event over the past four months with the support of many local businesses. The event was held at Bowater Hyundai on Saturday afternoon.

"All three of us have quite strong fashion backgrounds, Brennan said.

"We all know how it works, it makes it a lot easier.

More than 250 Nelsonians turned up to see the showcase. The event was a sell-out with only standing room left.

Emerging Nelson designers Lucy Georgina and Stelloco showed their collections and Brennan said she heard people say the young designers really stood out during the show.
Local retailers Shine, Stacey Clothing, Trouble and Fox and Sidecar also showed clothing from their summer collections.

A percentage of the ticket sales went to the Ronald McDonald House and Brennan said they wanted to do something to give back and chose the charity because they had provided support for Strang's children.
Brennan said the event had been a success and it was definitely something they hoped to do again.

Meet the Bowater Hyundai Team

James Duncan. Very good at horsing around....

2015-isuzu-james500xJames has been with Bowater Hyundai & Isuzu since early in 2014, having come through the industry since his first job as a vehicle groomer back in 2002. Over that time he has certainly seen technology change, and is able to point you in the right direction with matching you up with the vehicle that will best suit your needs. He has his finger on the pulse and knows how to take control of the reigns!

Born and bred in Nelson, James grew up in Wakefield and attended Waimea College. He has kept true to his country roots, having competitively ridden horses since he was 5. He now competes on a national level, often travelling to events such as the Horse of the Year with his horse and his executive horse float. Got a question about towing a horse float - James is your man! He has towed more horse floats in his time than most, and has got the full run down on towing statistics.
