When the Hyundai Veloster was new, all everyone talked about was the doors. The strange and imaginative arrangement - two on the kerb side, one on the road side - raised the profile of both the Veloster and Hyundai as a whole. It also had the useful side effect of distracting attention from the car's relatively humdrum mechanical spec.
But now the Veloster comes with a turbo. So, however handy they might be for dropping the kids off at school, let's put the doors aside and look at it as budget sports coupe. The addition of a quick-responding twin-scroll blower to the direct-injection engine takes the power up to 186bhp and the torque to 195lb ft. To go with it, the wheels are up to 18-inchers, and the suspension is firmed, the steering re-geared and re-weighted, and brakes made more stout. What you'd expect.

Yesterday in Nelson, at the Miyazu Japanese Garden's, the annual spring Cherry Blossom festival was held. It seemed like the perfect fit for our "flower power" car, the all new 2012 Toyota Prius C.
We took the car along early so we could get a great park right outside the festival so that as many Nelsonians could see this wonderful car as possible!
It is a big week for the Flower Power Prius C - it is off on a road trip with the Nelson Prius Challenge winner Nick Marer and his family over the first week of the school holidays.
The 2012 Miyazu Cherry Blossom Festival was a stunner as usual, with a great turnout from both the locals and the famous Nelson sunshine.
Yesterday we took the all new 2012 Honda Jazz S out for a lunch date to the Richmond Mall to check in with Bowater Honda salesman Nick Devereux who was out there letting the good folks of Richmond all about the brand new Honda Euro Civic Hatch.

The Honda Jazz is quite a stunner in the colour range available, today we drove the Fresh Lime Green model. We certainly got stopped to talk about it as we took photos in the car park, the general consensus from those that took the time to chat was that this colour is a total winner! Everyone could not believe how much space was in the back as well - this little car is quite deceptive in that regard. The mall was busy, lunchtime on a Friday is peak times, so Nick had his hands full talking to interested locals about the brand new 2012 Honda Euro Civic Hatch - it is a very European looking car and makes quite a statement.
