ELIGIBILITY
Your Lexus must be less than 10-years-old and travelled fewer than 150,000kms.
It must be serviced by an Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent.
Vehicles that are not extending a current Lexus warranty will have to pass an inspection to ensure there are no pre-existing conditions.
If pre-existing faults are found, your vehicle won’t qualify unless these are repaired.

LEXUS SERVICE PROTECT TERMS AND CONDITIONS
LEXUS SERVICE PROTECT TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. DEFINITIONS
a) Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent means a registered motor vehicle dealership, or third party, authorised by us to sell Lexus vehicles, parts and accessories.
b) Covered Part means the items set out in clause 3(b).
c) Eligible Service means a service due in accordance with your vehicle's Recommended Service Schedule, excluding Intermediate Services.
d) Eligible Vehicle means a Lexus vehicle that:
i. receives an Eligible Service with an Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent; and
ii. is less than 10 years old and has travelled no more than 150,000km.
e) Failure means a sudden or unexpected mechanical or electrical failure.
f) Gross Vehicle Mass means the maximum permissible total weight of the vehicle, as designed by the manufacturer, that may not be exceeded. Gross Vehicle Mass includes the maximum amounts of fuel, coolant and all items of standard equipment including the spare tyre & tools etc., the weight of the passengers, the weight of the payload and the downward weight on the towball if towing a trailer.
g) Intermediate Service means the service required for your vehicle to meet the Intermediate Servicing Requirements.
h) On Time Intermediate Servicing means within 1 month of the 6 month Intermediate Service Interval or 1,000km of the 7,500km Intermediate Service Interval (as applicable).
i) Recommended Service Schedule means the items that need to be inspected, adjusted, or replaced at each Service Interval as specified by Lexus New Zealand in the Recommended Service Schedule produced by Lexus that is applicable to your vehicle.
j) Lexus or Lexus New Zealand means a brand and division of Toyota New Zealand Limited.
k) Lexus Approved Parts, Fluids and Accessories means Lexus Genuine Accessories and Lexus Genuine Parts, and accessories and parts that are otherwise approved or recommended by Lexus for the vehicle, that are fitted to the manufacturer's specifications.
l) Lexus Service Protect means the 12-month/15,000km (whichever comes first) warranty and roadside assistance available for Eligible Vehicles in accordance with these Terms.
m) Intermediate Service Interval means every 6 months or 7,500kms.
n) Intermediate Servicing Requirements means that your vehicle receives On Time Intermediate Servicing for each Intermediate Service Interval required in accordance with the Recommended Service Schedule.
o) Terms means the terms and conditions of the Lexus Service Protect Warranty set out in this document.
p) Warranty has the meaning set out in clause 2(a)(i).
q) Warranty Period has the meaning set out in clause 2(b).
r) We, us, our, or Lexus means Lexus New Zealand.
s) You or your means the registered owner of the Eligible Vehicle.
2. GENERAL TERMS
a) Benefits: Subject to these Terms, during the Warranty Period, you will receive the following benefits when your Eligible Vehicle (also referred to in these Terms as your vehicle) receives an Eligible Service:
i. Warranty: Any Covered Part of an Eligible Vehicle (that is not excluded by the Warranty Exclusions section of these Terms) that suffers a Failure will be repaired or replaced to a condition that is in no way inferior to that immediately prior to the Failure (see clause 3 for further information);
ii. Roadside Assistance: Roadside Assistance as described in clause 4.
b) Warranty Period: The Warranty Period will commence on the date that your vehicle completes an Eligible Service with an Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent, and will expire on the earlier of:
i. the date that is 12 months after the commencement of the Warranty Period; or
ii. the point at which your vehicle has travelled 15,000km from the commencement of the Warranty Period.
c) In-Service Inspection: If your vehicle is not covered by an existing warranty provided by Lexus New Zealand, then your vehicle will be subject to an In-Service Inspection by the servicing Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent to assess the state of your vehicle and (at its discretion) identify any pre-existing issues. Pre-existing issues will be recorded by the Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent on the Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent's In-Service Inspection check sheet. If your vehicle fails an In-Service Inspection it will not be eligible for Lexus Service Protect unless the failed items are repaired within 3 months or 1,500kms of the initial inspection. Any faults or defects in, or failures of, any components that existed prior to the commencement of the Warranty Period will not be covered by the Warranty.
d) Not redeemable: The benefits set out in these Terms are not redeemable for cash or discount.
e) Invalid outside of New Zealand: Lexus Service Protect is only valid while the vehicle remains in New Zealand. Lexus Service Protect will become invalid if the vehicle leaves New Zealand.
f) Lexus Service Protect benefits may be transferred with change of vehicle ownership: Should you (as the current registered owner of the vehicle) decide to sell your vehicle, Lexus Service Protect is transferable to the new registered owner (unless the Lexus Service Protect has ceased to be valid in accordance with these Terms). To transfer Lexus Service Protect, you must fill out the details on the Change of Ownership form that you can find at www.lexus.co.nz/en/contact-us/transfer-of-ownership.html. Alternatively, you may contact your Authorised Lexus Dealership or call us on 0800 4 LEXUS (0800 4 53987), and we will update the ownership details.
g) Our right to terminate: Lexus New Zealand reserves the right to terminate this Lexus Service Protect or decline any Warranty claim if:
i. You fail to disclose any relevant information;
ii. You make any material misrepresentation as to the condition or standard of your vehicle before these Terms commence;
iii. You fail to comply with these Terms; or
iv. You or anyone acting on your behalf make a false or dishonest claim or statement to support a Warranty claim.
h) Special terms for campaigns and promotions: Special terms and conditions may apply to a particular vehicle campaign or promotion that includes Lexus Service Protect. Where applicable, you must read and understand the terms and conditions of the campaign and/or retail giveaway.
3. WARRANTY TERMS
a) Your obligations: For Lexus Service Protect to remain valid, you must:
i. Report any defect in your vehicle to an Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent promptly after discovery and make your vehicle available for assessment at the Authorised Lexus Dealership's or Service Agent's place of business as soon as practicable (see clause 3(f) for details of the claims process);
ii. Ensure that only Lexus Approved Parts, Fluids and Accessories recommended by the manufacturer of your vehicle, are used in any repair or service of your vehicle. If parts, fluids and accessories are used that are not Lexus Approved Parts, Fluids and Accessories recommended by the manufacturer, Lexus Service Protect may cease to be valid, unless an Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent determines through investigation that the relevant parts, fluids or accessories have not contributed to or impacted the Failure being claimed under the Warranty;
iii. In the event of a Failure, use all reasonable means to protect your vehicle from further damage; and
iv. In the event of a Failure, ensure that your vehicle is repaired by an Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent.
v. Intermediate Service: If your vehicle requires an Intermediate Service (as advised by us on our website or as communicated to you by an Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent), you must ensure that your vehicle receives that Intermediate Service at an Authorised Lexus Dealer or Service Agent in accordance with the Intermediate Servicing Requirements.
b) Warranty Inclusions: The following items are covered by the Warranty subject to any specified exclusion or limitation identified in italics:
i. Exhaust Systems: Pipes; Gaskets; Hangers; Mufflers; Sensors; Catalytic Convertor/DPF; After Engine Urea Systems. Exclusions: Urea Fluid, misfuelling, DPF burns, and Carbon Removal from the additional Injector.
ii. Engine: Cylinder Head; Cylinder Head Gaskets; Camshaft Followers; Hydraulic Tappets; Camshaft; Valves & Guides; Timing Gears; VVTi Controllers; Timing Chain/Belt where needed for repair but excluding normal maintenance; Con Rods & Pins; Oil Pump; Auto Drive Plate; Shell Bearings & Bushes; Pistons & Rings; Cylinder Block; Crankshaft; Balance Shaft; Flywheel & Ring Gear; Manifolds; Frost Plugs; Gaskets; Oil Pressure Sender Unit & Switch; Oil Seals; O-Ring; Engine Mounts.
iii. Manual Transmission/Clutch: Casings & Gears; Selectors/Shaft & Cables; Circlips; Synchro Hubs; Bearings & Bushes; Extension Shaft; Oil Seals; Sensors; Gaskets; Gearbox Mounts; Master & Slave Cylinders; Hoses/Pipes; Accumulators.
iv. Hybrid Vehicle System (including hybrid vehicle high voltage battery): Invertor Convertor; Hybrid Vehicle High Voltage Battery; HV Cables; Relays; Sensors; ECU’s; Hybrid Vehicle High Voltage Battery Cooling Blower; HV Transaxle; E Axle.
v. Electric Vehicle Systems: Invertor Convertor; Drive Motors
vi. Automatic Transmission & CVT: Casings & Gears; Valve Block & Valves; Solenoids; Oil Pump; Clutches & Brake Bands excluding if worn or burnt; Variable Ratio Servo; Drive Chain; Replacement CVT if components are not available individually; Torque Converter; Governor; Bearings; Bushes & Shafts; ECU; Neutral Start Switch; Oil Seals; Gaskets; O-Ring; Gearbox Mounts.
vii. Transfer Box (4WD): Casings & Gears; Bearings; Bushes & Shafts; Selectors; Oil Seals; Gaskets; 4WD Engagement Actuator; Chain/Drive Belt; Sensors; ECUs.

xii. Differential: Axles; Crown Wheel & Pinion; Casing & Gears; Differential Clutch packs; Bearings & Bushes; Extension Shafts; Limited Slip Components (including torque sensing and electrically operated LSD); ADD Unit and Actuator; Oil Seals; Gaskets; Electronic Coupling.
xiii. Suspension: Coil Springs; Upper & Lower Wishbones; Leaf Springs; Ball Joints; Strut Mounts; Stabiliser Bar/ Bushes; Hub Assembly; Trailing Arms; Adjustable Height Suspension. Exclusions: Shock Absorbers.
xiv. Seat & Base: Manual and Electric Seat Adjustment Mechanisms; Seat Heaters. Exclusions: Seat Covers, Bases and Frames.
xv. SRS (Supplementary Restraint System): Mechanical Faults – Seat Belts only; Electrical Faults – Air Bags; Pre-Tensioners; Air Bag ECU; SRS Sensors; Spiral Cable. Exclusions: Wiring and Plugs.
xvi. Engine Management System: Auto Transmission ECU; Engine ECU; Engine Management Sensors & Actuators; Emission Control ECUs & Sensors.
xvii. Cooling System: Water Pump; Viscous Coupling; Fan & Thermo Switch; Cooling Fan Motor & ECU; Heater Core; Oil Cooler; Radiator; Thermostat & Housing; Pressure Cap; HV Coolant Pump; Actuators and Sensors.
xviii. Air Conditioning: Cooling Fan; Compressor; Condenser; Pressure Hoses; Fan Motor; Evaporator; A/C System Sensors; Control Units, Actuators and Cables (including HVAC system).
xix. Turbo/Supercharger: Wastegate; Turbine; Shaft; Impellers; VNV Turbo: Vane Driver Unit; Bearings; Intercooler; Supercharger Unit; Oil Seals; Bearings; Gaskets.
xx. Steering Components: Steering Box/Rack; Rack Electric Power Steering Motor; Power Steering ECU (including Steering lock ECU); Mounts & Bushes; Reservoir & Pipes; Oil Seals & Shafts; Rack & Tie Rod Ends; Power Steering Pump; Idler Box; Steering Column; Bushes & Bearings; VGRS System; Hoses; Sensors and Actuators.
xxi. Fuel System: Airflow Meter; Throttle Body; Fuel Pumps; Control Valves; Common Rail; Fuel Delivery Pipes; Fuel Injection Pump; EDU and ECU’s; Sensors; Injectors; Injector Pump Drive; Fuel Gauge; Fuel Sender Unit; Fuel Pressure Regulator and Relief valves; Accelerator Throttle Cable. Exclusions: System failure due to fuel contamination or incorrect fuelling.
c) Warranty Exclusions: This Warranty only covers the Covered Parts specified in clause 3(b) above. For the avoidance of doubt,the following items and situations are not covered under this Warranty:
i. Cosmetic parts and performance parts and accessories (other than Lexus Approved Parts, Fluids and Accessories that are covered under this Warranty) including (but not limited to) LPG/CNG conversion kits and other aftermarket products;
ii. Expendable items including (but not limited to) spark plugs, batteries, tyres, filters, coolant hoses, belts and wiper blades;
iii. Maintenance items including (but not limited to) grease, oil, coolant, refrigerant, clutch linings and pads, brake linings and pads, disc machining, and adjustments and alignments unless required in connection with the repair or replacement of a Covered Part;
iv. Audio Systems;
v. Wire Harness;
vi. Electric Vehicle High Voltage Battery;
vii. Interior Trim and Upholstery;
viii. Navigation Units;
ix. Other items specified in the exclusions or limitations identified in italics in clause 3(c) above;
x. Failures or faults relating to, or repairs necessary due to:
1. external or impact damage, such as damage caused by an accident or animal;
2. misfuelling or damage to the engine/fuel system by the ingestion of incorrect or contaminated fuel;
3. the use of parts or accessories that are not Lexus Approved Parts, Fluids and Accessories, or the use of fuel, lubricants or fluids not recommended by the manufacturer of the vehicle;
4. repairs or adjustments carried out by someone other than an Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent;
5. a failure to carry out regular maintenance or servicing in accordance with the owner's manual;
6. alterations or modifications to the manufacturer’s original specification or the installation of parts or accessories that are not Lexus Approved Parts, Fluids or Accessories (including non-factory fitted LPG/CNG conversions/fitments and the use of gas in those conversion fitments);
7. any faults or defects in, or failures of, any components of your vehicle that existed prior to the commencement of the Warranty Period, including, without limitation, any pre-existing issues identified by the Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent during an In-Service Inspection and recorded on the In-Service Inspection check sheet (if applicable);
8. water damage (including flooding, submersion, or operating above the manufacturer specified depth), fire, theft, contamination, sand, salt, hail, stones, chemicals, industrial fallout, negligence (such as the driver ignoring gauges, warning lights or messages) or other causes beyond the control of the manufacturer, Lexus New Zealand, your Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent, or corrosion to the vehicle caused by such matters.
xi. Any costs associated with diagnostic assessment if the repair or replacement is not covered by this Warranty;
xii. The repair or replacement of any part as a result of normal wear and tear, including rattles and squeaks;
xiii. Any other repair that could be valid under any other form of guarantee, warranty or insurance (including any applicable manufacturer’s warranty);
xiv. The Failure of a Covered Part that has been caused by the Failure of a part that is not a Covered Part; or
xv. Rust as a result of failure to maintain the vehicle in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
xvi. The vehicle is taken out of New Zealand, used in competition, rallying or racing, or subjected to extraordinary use, such as (but not limited to) mining, severe off-road use, agricultural spraying, or police or emergency operations;
xvii. The vehicle is damaged or written off as a total loss due to major damage, neglect, accident or improper use;
xviii. The odometer fitted to the vehicle is altered or replaced (except where it has been repaired or replaced under warranty) or does not provide a reasonable indication of the distance the vehicle has travelled;
xix. The manufacturer’s identification numbers or marks are altered or removed;
xx. The vehicle has a Gross Vehicle Mass of more than 3,500kg (for example because accessories are added to the vehicle);
d) Claim limits:
i. You can claim up to the following amounts per claim:
1. Costs to repair or replace the Covered Part: $6,900 NZD (including GST, if any);
2. Towing to the nearest Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent under your Roadside Assistance cover: Fully covered; and
3. Further vehicle movements at Lexus New Zealand’s discretion (for example, to transport the vehicle to your home once repaired): $300 NZD (including GST, if any).
ii. You may be liable for diagnostic and/or repair costs if the failure is deemed not to be covered by the Warranty;
iii. Lexus New Zealand's total maximum liability for all claims under this Warranty is $10,000 NZD (including GST, if any).
e) Breakdown costs:
i. If your vehicle has a breakdown due to a Failure of a Covered Part more than 50km from your usual place of residence and the repair for which you are entitled to under this Warranty cannot be completed within 24 hours, you are entitled to vehicle rental car costs of $135 (including GST, if any) per day for up to 3 days while your vehicle is being repaired (excluding the cost of fuel and tolls).
ii. If your vehicle has a breakdown due to a Failure of a Covered Part more than 100km from your usual place of residence and the repair for which you are entitled to under this Warranty cannot be completed within 24 hours, you are entitled to accommodation costs of up to $150 (including GST, if any) per night for a maximum of 3 nights required while your vehicle is being repaired (excluding the cost of meals and beverages).
f) Claims process: In the event of a Failure:
i. Take your vehicle to the nearest Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent (or arrange for the vehicle to be towed, see clause 3(g) below);
ii. Discuss the condition or problem with the Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent, including the vehicle's service history details and other relevant information. Provide your Service Record Booklet for the vehicle or other record that validates the vehicle’s warranty and service history to the Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent;
iii. Your Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent will investigate the problem and determine if the condition is covered by this Warranty;
iv. Your Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent will discuss the repair with you, including any costs which you may be liable for (for example, diagnostic and/or repair costs if the Failure is not covered under the Warranty);
v. The Covered Part will be repaired by the Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent;
vi. The Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent will submit a claim for costs for that repair covered by this Warranty to Lexus New Zealand, and Lexus New Zealand will reimburse the Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent;
vii. You pay the Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent for any costs which you are liable for.
g) Towing process:
i. If your vehicle requires towing to an Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent following a Failure of a Covered Part:
1. Call Roadside Assistance;
2. The Roadside Assistance provider will arrange towing to the nearest Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent;
3. Discuss any other vehicle movement/towing costs with the Authorised Lexus Dealership or Service Agent.
ii. If your vehicle is towed and the defect is not covered by the Warranty, you will be liable for any towing costs incurred.
4. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE
a) Your entitlements: Lexus Service Protect includes 24 hour Roadside Assistance for the Warranty Period. Roadside Assistance includes:
i. Mechanical breakdown assistance;
ii. Flat battery jump starts;
iii. Flat tyre replacements with the vehicle's spare tyre or inflated with the vehicle's tyre inflator kit;
iv. Vehicle lock outs (a service provider will attempt to open the vehicle subject to satisfactory proof of authority to use the vehicle);
v. Out of fuel up to 5 litres of fuel (or a charge top up for an Electric Vehicle) to enable the vehicle to get to the nearest fuelling or charging station. If this is not practical, recovery of the vehicle will be provided to the nearest service station or charging point; and
vi. Towing to the nearest Authorised Lexus Dealer or Service Agent if the vehicle is immobilised.
b) No limit to number of call-outs: There is no limit to the number of call-outs to Roadside Assistance under Lexus Service Protect subject to any applicable exclusions to Roadside Assistance coverage set out in these Terms.
c) Exclusions to Roadside Assistance coverage:
i. Roadside Assistance coverage does not include:
1. vehicle parts or vehicle repair labour; or
2. any expense for additional transportation or a return journey to pick up extra passengers.
ii. Roadside Assistance is not available:
1. when the vehicle is unattended;
2. for vehicles not on public or formed roads or that are trapped/bogged, or that are outside the North or South Islands of New Zealand;
3. for vehicle breakdowns covered under any applicable insurance policy;
4. when the vehicle is disabled due to a motor vehicle accident, or stolen or damaged due to theft or vandalism;
5. when the vehicle is immobilised by a failure to carry a serviceable spare tyre or a tyre inflator kit;
6. for vehicles carrying a load beyond the legal limit;
7. when the vehicle is un-roadworthy or it would be dangerous or illegal for Roadside Assistance personnel or contractors to repair, load or transport the vehicle and/or its occupants (the carriage of passengers because of a breakdown can only be to the legal limit of the attending vehicle); or
8. for incorrectly fuelled vehicles.
iii. Roadside Assistance services may also be delayed or altered due to a force majeure event. Force majeure means a circumstance beyond the reasonable control of a party that results in that party being unable to observe or perform an obligation (including (a) acts of God, lightning strikes, earthquakes, floods, storms, explosions, fires and any natural disaster; (b) acts of war, acts of public enemies, terrorism, riots, civil commotion, malicious damages, sabotage and revolution; (c) strikes or industrial disputes; (d) embargo; or (e) power, water or other utility shortage).
d) Expiry of Roadside Assistance: Your entitlement to Roadside Assistance coverage expires at the end of the Warranty Period or when Lexus Service Protect is cancelled or terminated.
5. PRIVACY STATEMENT
We respect Your privacy.
